WORK DONE OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS

In January 2011, I finished a five month run in ONASSIS by Martin Sherman at first The Derby Theatre (formerly The Playhouse) and then a very successful run at The Novello Theatre in the West End. I was on stage in this as ensemble and covered both ROBERT LINDSAY'S Aristotle Onassis and JOHN HODGKINSON'S Yanni. I went on for both of these these roles during the run, once, as Onassis, before Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Recorded the role of the wizard and his twin brother in a computer game for OUTSOURCE MEDIA called THE BOOK OF UNWRITTEN STORIES.

Played another comfortable-looking (this time bearded) middle-aged guy on an even comfier sofa for a recent DFS TV Ad. It was shot in a sort of
footballer's-wives-type mansion nestling in countryside a few miles east of Blackpool.

Read 'TWO WHEELS' by Matt Seaton at Whitehouse Studios for Clipper Audio. A short book, but a must for all fans of pedal-power...that's bicycles to you!

Previously at Whitehouse: read Glen Cooper's excellent, THE BOOK OF SOULS,
REVIEW:

By Wilma (Mereworth, Kent, United Kingdom) Jan 31, 2011

A great step up from its predecessor 'Library of the Dead'. I found it hard to put this one down. The story is much more tightly knit and Cooper bridges the pond between England and America as well as he does the centuries. Some great historical background on the book world as well as the reformation. Nigel Carrington's narration is a joy to listen to... he doesn't just read, but captures the spirit of the characters well. Wonder where Glenn will take us next on his journeys through time.

This was a very absorbing and thought provoking mystical thriller. Great fun to do. I get to be Shakespeare, Nostradamus, John Calvin, assorted ancient Breton monks, a sadistic Frenchman, assorted and nasty CIA operatives, A foppish Derek Jacobi type  Antiquarian bookshop owner, a doddering old English Lord, and, the hero.. a burned out and ageing ex-FBI cop (aren't they always!) with a deep-south accent. Oh..and that's just the MEN! (apologies to all genuine burned-out and egeing ex-FBI cops from the Deep South, for maybe not getting it as right as it could be with my husky attempts at vocal representation. I realize that my more modest years of cigarettes and whisky and wild wild women don't quite sound the same when coming from an Englishman 'doing a voice'

Before that I recorded Neil Wayborn's booklet: 'CONFUCIOUS IN A NUTSHELL' for a sample, go to: http://www.naxosaudiobooks.com/0019.htm
It's produced by Roy McMillan, for NAXOS AUDIO BOOKS.
This comes fairly hot on the heels of my first audio read for the NAXOS label : 'THE PRINCE', Machiavelli's intriguing book of 'advice' to all aspiring leaders of states. Translated from the Italian, it's fascinating stuff for all you classics and history buffs.

A few weeks prior to that, I recorded the new audio-guide for CHATSWORTH HOUSE for ATS and updated my recording of The HAMPTON COURT audio-guide.

Now...
Have a listen to this sound-file.
It's a trail I recorded as a sort of homage, by producer Ben Motley, to John Grierson's rattling old-style 1950's bbc-voice read of the 'The Night Mail', a famous poem by W.H Auden , composed for a celebrated old British Railways B&W film. This was recorded at Bush House for a
The BBC WORLD SERVICE feature, promoting: 'Would You Kill The Big Guy' which aired from 12th May.
